Carlos Ruiz-Garvia

Team Leader, Regional Collaboration Center in Panama

Carlos Ruiz-Garvia is a graduate of Forestry Engineering (Universidad de Concepción, Chile), has a PhD in Agricultural Engineering (University of Goettingen, Germany) and a Major in Project Management (University of Stetson, USA). Throughout his career, he worked for various organizations including Fundación Chile, Repsol YPF, and was Operations Director of the company Accreditation Services International GmbH (ASI) in Germany.

He joined the United Nations Secretariat for Climate Change (UNFCCC) more than 8 years ago, where he is currently responsible for coordinating the work of the Regional Collaboration Centers (RCCs) for Latin America. Since the Paris Agreement in 2015, the RCCs support the development and implementation of determined national contributions (NDCs) and climate action linked under that concept, in addition to disseminating the benefits of the clean development mechanism (CDM).
